SUMMARY
Leads, guides, coordinates, and supervises a team that may comprise of General Supervisor 1, Production Supervisors, Working Supervisors, Team Leaders, Journey Level Workers, Trainees, Helpers, and Subcontracted Labor.
Reports to Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent. Interacts vertically and horizontally within own organization, other trades, and company. Has contact with customers and vendors. Supervises General Supervisor I and Production Supervisors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Plans, schedules, and monitors team activities. Evaluates team performance. Conducts annual evaluation of direct reports.
- Identifies problem areas and initiates corrective action. Reviews documentation and identifies deficiencies and potential problems.
- Adheres to schedule objectives, cost and quality. Complies with organization and company administrative procedures.
- Monitors performance to safety policies.
- Coordinates production with other Production Supervisors, Trades, Quality Assurance, and Management.
- Oversees SOC/Department activities. Plans, submits, updates, and monitors SOC production manning, schedules, and budget. Reports all SOC status daily/weekly to Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent.
- Recommends merit increases to Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent.
- Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of installation processes for CPP Systems, reduction gears, diesel engines, propulsion shafting alignment, rudders/steering gear system, various crane types, underway replenishment machinery, mooring equipment, pumps, elevators, bow thrusters, remote operating gear, various antenna foundation alignments, portable in place machining, etc.
- Reads and writes effectively; speaks with clarity and listens actively.
- Have solid math skills, reads and understands blueprints/drawings and technical manuals.
- Uses computers and networked systems when appropriate.

- Has specific knowledge of shipbuilding processes/procedures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to climb on and around ships and walk to other yard areas. Requires extended period of standing and walking (75%). Daily inspections require climbing ladders, working at heights, walking on scaffolding, and observing workers using tools and equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, chemical vapors and smoke. Spends up to 100% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates and shifts. Endures noise levels from moderate to extremely noisy (75%).
ACCOUNTABILITY
Directly accountable for the safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance of the production team.
PAY SCALE
$96,800 - $147,300
Salaried Roles
This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
