Under the direction of the Warehouse/Logistic Lead, responsible for the operation of the warehouse and logistic operations.

POSITION DEMANDS (Education/Training)

AA/AS plus two (2) years directly related experience or High School Graduate equivalent plus four (4) years of shipyard related experience. Shipbuilding/repair enviornment preferred.

 

POSITION DEMANDS (Required Experience)

Knowledge of:

  • Ship repair methods and procedures.
  • OSHA regulations regarding industrial lift equipment safety and training.
  • Vehicle codes, particularly for passengers, buses and semi-tractor/trailer operations.
  • Department of Motor Vehicles rules and regulations.
  • Industrial lift equipment and their capabilities, capacities and safe operation.
  • Hazardous material handling requirements inside and outside of NASSCO.
  • Inventory cycle counting, root cause analysis, and reconciliation.
  • Navy Material Scraping Procedures and disposal of recyclable material.
  • Regular, reliable attendance on-site is an essential function of the job.

Experience with:

  • Identifying problem areas and initiating corrective action.
  • Warehouse receiving and security.
  • Transportation facilitation.
  • Providing quality service to a wide range of customer requirements.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the Warehouse Manager. Works with Warehouse/Tool Room Associates, GFP Coordinator and Driver(s).  Interacts internally with other supervision and directors and externally with vendors and customers.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurately conduct receipt inspection of all inbound material requisitioned along with required documentation
  • Unpack, examine and route incoming shipments, rejecting damaged items, recording shortages, and corresponding with buyer to rectify damages or shortages.
  • Identify material by various grades, specs and types.
  • Properly stage all inbound and outbound material in its proper locations.
  • Accurately mark materials with identifying information using appropriate methods
  • Research in computer system any material request to locate material
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to a predetermined sequence such as size, type, contract, etc.
  • Assemble customer orders and place orders on pallets and relocate orders to a holding or shipping area
  • Accurately and efficiently pull requested material and prepare material transfer document and process and submit associated paperwork
  • Understand and follow company’s property control procedures.
  • Operate both forklifts, sit down and stand up 
  • Load and unload inbound and outbound trucks safely
  • Knowledgeable of various means of transportation and associated documentation requirements, i.e., LTL, flatbed, UPS, Fed-Ex, dedicated shipments
  • Assist in counting physical inventory
  • Process all items being returned for replacement or credit
  • Conduct inventory, control, and coordinate the transfer of tools and equipment.
  • Perform job safely and work as part of a team in keeping site safe and in clean conditions, reporting any required maintenance.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize well.
  • Make deliveries as necessary.
  • Knowledgeable in proper personal protective equipment (PPE) to use and when
  • Demonstrate effective math applications
  • Able to read and write effectively in English, speak with clarity and listen actively.
  • Must be able to work well with others.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

 

ACCOUNTABILITY

Accountable to the Warehouse Manager for:

  • Delivering materials on time, to the correct location, and free from damage.
  • Coordinating materials from the entry point in the yard to final delivery to the customer.
  • For recycling as much as possible the regular waste generated by the department.

 

Pay Range:    $20.77-$27.66

The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity.  At NASSCO Bremerton we anticipate making salary offers between the minimum and midpoint of salary range. Offers will be based on experience, abilities, and knowledge similar to the NASSCO Job being applied for NASSCO employees performing similar work.

UNIQUE/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have reliable record of attendance and punctuality and be available for overtime as required.  Must have good eye/hand coordination.  Regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects or controls; and to talk and hear.  Must have physical ability to walk to all warehouse/storeroom locations.  Exposure to constantly moving machines and mechanical parts.   High levels of constant noise and dust may be present depending on the location of the individual warehouse or storage site.  Must be able to gain access to all work locations including government and private shipyards and/or vessels.
