ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE (Job Description)

The Work Integration Manager – Surface Ships is the primary interface between the Projects, Production, Testing team, Scheduling and Quality Assurance.  This position provides scheduling integration during advance planning and execution.  This position provides guidance to Schedulers, communicates any scheduling problem areas to the project team, and provide options for problem resolution. Within defined objectives, but with considerable latitude, the Work Integration Manager performs in a professional position requiring an in-depth knowledge; is capable of independent, complex analysis, concept formulation, and new method identification and serves as a prime point of contact for customers. Inaccurate decisions or errors in work and information may put the fiscal position of the organization at risk and damage the Company's reputation.

  

POSITION DEMANDS (Education/Training)                 

Typically has an MA/MS in a related field plus two (2) years directly related experience, or BA/BS in a related field of study plus two (2) years directly related experience, or AA/AS plus four (4) years directly related experience, or eight (8) years’ directly related experience.

  

POSITION DEMANDS (Required Experience)

  • Must have strong Management skills in Cost Management, Scheduling, Planning, Personnel Management, QA and Safety awareness.
  • Proven experience in Propulsion Plant Systems, Centralized Control System operations, Diesel Generators and experience in managing ships, towards final completion phases, up to and including Sea Trials, Delivery, and Guarantee Period.
  • Preparing and giving briefs to large groups and individuals. Develop technical documents and guidelines  to support project execution
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and be proficient in Primavera.
  • Must be proficient in activity definition, activity sequencing, critical path analysis, resource loading and resource leveling.
  • Must have a working knowledge and understanding of the process, procedures, and system requirements of Earned Value Management (EVM) Scheduling and Ship Repair.
  • Must possess expert ability to effectively communicate with other disciplines or groups and resolve conflicts.
  • Must have the ability to lead teams and possess the ability to supervise and manage projects.
  • Must possess the ability to read drawings, blueprints, standard items, and specifications of work items.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the Ship Manager and works with other department personnel and internal and external customers

  

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review project contract documents and drawings to determine project scope and schedule development.
  • Organize work scope into major categories to outline deliverables and milestones.
  • Determine primary time table for deliverables.
  • Sequence major work and test priorities into a logical schedule.
  • Determine critical paths that anchor the overall project completion date.
  • Modify critical paths based on prevailing conditions.
  • Develop workarounds to overcome obstacles in the critical path.
  • Integrate, review, and validate critical relationships with primary parties and government affiliations on a weekly basis to ensure compliance as well recommended changes to the master schedule.
  • Receive and understand client constraints.
  • Integrate constraints into project schedule and evaluate schedule impacts.
  •  Assist in the development of current base line for Ships equipment to support Combat systems and Propulsion equipment light off. Work closely with Schedulers, Test team, Project Managers, Production, Contracts, Planning, and Estimators to ensure all information is represented appropriately to produce an integrated schedule.
  • Evaluate work trends and provide recommendations.
  • Review work to determine accuracy and completion status.

     

ACCOUNTABILITY

Accountable to the Ship Manager for schedule integration during advance planning and execution., providing guidance to Schedulers, communicating scheduling problem areas to the project team, and providing options for problem resolution.

 

UNIQUE/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Regular, reliable attendance on-site is an essential function of the job. Must be willing to travel and have reliable transportation.  Must be a U.S. citizen and qualify for a Common Access Card (CAC) and a security clearance.  Must have reliable record of attendance and punctuality and be available for overtime as required.  Must be able to physically transit all areas of the facility.  Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects or controls, and to talk and hear.  Must have good eye/hand coordination.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be familiar with working in a naval-ship-work-environment and be able to go aboard marine vessels and the drydock, climb ladders, work in tanks and confined spaces, and wear personal protective equipment.  These areas can be dirty, dusty, hot or cold, and noisy.

 

Pay Range:    $73,600- $96,600

The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity.  At NASSCO Bremerton we anticipate making salary offers between the minimum and midpoint of salary range. Offers will be based on experience, abilities, and knowledge similar to the NASSCO Job being applied for NASSCO employees performing similar work.
