Security Clearance: No Clearance




Ability to identify, prioritize, resolve and properly document network-related support calls and questions. Evaluate requests for new services, propose solutions, perform testing and upkeep of these services. Ensure accuracy of service and network documentation, maintain network integrity, monitor network alarms, troubleshoot network issues, and assist in root cause analysis events. This position requires understanding and following of standard procedures, and escalating situations falling outside of these procedures. The ability to be a self-starter, results-oriented, team player with high levels of integrity is necessary in this role. It is highly important to possess critical thinking skills, well-developed analytical decision making, and problem-solving abilities, errors in work or actions can affect company-wide networks. 



  • Both education and experience are considered
  • BA/BS degree or 5 years of directly related experience/internships
  • Broad knowledge of networking concepts
  • Additional certifications are a plus - specifically Cisco and Juniper
  • Experience with Cisco switching a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites, at least 2 years supporting MS Windows enviornment
  • Knowledge of telecommunications network design principles and processes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate self-motivated willingness to learn, and the ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Ability to multi-task under pressure, of a busy and changing work environment with critical deadlines



  • Able to lift 50lbs and be comfortable working in an outdoor environment in all types of weather in a variety of conditions
  • Must be willing and able to work shipboard and in tight spaces
  • Must be willing and able to pull and install various types of network infrastructure cable

VISION REQUIREMENTS:  Required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating equipment where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach or performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as ones by technicians, service people, etc.



Reports to Network Manager.  Collaborates with members of the IT Infrastructure team. 



  • Troubleshoot LAN and WAN connectivity issues and assist with upgrades and modifications as required
  • Maintain network hardware and software inventory records
  • Lead, coordinate and/or participate in IT projects as assigned
  • Assist in completion of daily checklists for network health and security, raise concerns as necessary
  • Provide coordination and problem resolution for all ship board provided services
  • Maintain cabling plant diagrams and documentation




  • Must be willing to travel and have reliable transportation. 
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and qualify for a Common Access Card (CAC) or DBIDS badge.
  • Must have reliable record of attendance and punctuality and be available for overtime as required. 
  • Must be able to physically transit all areas of the facility. 
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects or controls, and to talk and hear. 
  • Must have good eye/hand coordination. 
  • Ability to use work provided cell phones and desktop computers. 
  • Ability to tolerate moderate noise levels.
  • Must be familiar with working in a naval-ship-work-environment and be able to go aboard marine vessels and the drydock, climb ladders, work in tanks and confined spaces, and wear personal protective equipment. 
  • Comfortbility in areas that can be dirty, dusty, hot or cold.
