We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Scheduling department. This position specifically is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for a Scheduling Supervisor.  The work schedule is 0700 to 1600.

Pay Scale Range: $91,900 - $115,000

 

Shift : ALL

Security Clearance: No Clearance

PURPOSE AND FUNCTIONS

The Scheduling Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the Scheduling Department by supervising scheduling personnel and coordinating the development, maintenance, and execution of integrated production schedules supporting ship repair, overhaul, modernization, and maintenance projects. This position ensures scheduling activities align with contractual requirements, production priorities, and company objectives while providing technical guidance, coaching, and operational support to Scheduling personnel.

The Scheduling Supervisor partners closely with Project Management, Planning, Production, Business Development, Estimating, Engineering, Contracts, and other support departments to monitor project progress, resolve scheduling conflicts, optimize resource utilization, and support successful project execution.

    • Production planning, resource loading, forecasting, and schedule performance measurement
    • Departmental budgeting and resource planning concepts

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related discipline preferred
    • Equivalent combinations of education and directly related experience may be considered
  • Experience
    • Five (5) years of progressively responsible scheduling, planning, project controls, production planning, or ship repair experience
    • Minimum of two (2) years supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
    • Experience supporting multiple concurrent projects in shipbuilding, ship repair, manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred
    • Experience using Primavera P6 scheduling software
    • Experience supporting EVMS preferred
  • Certifications/Licenses
    • Ability to obtain and maintain required Common Access Card (CAC) and security clearance
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) certifications preferred but not required

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Core Responsibilities
    • Supervise the daily activities of the Scheduling Department to ensure project schedules are accurate, current, and aligned with production priorities
    • Assign, coordinate, review, and monitor the work of Scheduling personnel to support multiple ship repair, overhaul, modernization, and maintenance projects
    • Provide technical guidance, coaching, training, and performance feedback to Scheduling personnel
    • Support the Engineering & Scheduling Manager in planning departmental workloads, priorities, and resource allocation
    • Monitor scheduling performance metrics, analyze trends, and identify opportunities to improve scheduling accuracy, resource utilization, workflow efficiency, and overall departmental performance through continuous improvement initiatives
    • Ensure compliance with company scheduling procedures, contractual requirements, NAVSEA standards, and applicable policies
    • Foster collaboration between Scheduling and Production, Planning, Engineering, Estimating, Contracts, Project Management, and other support departments
    • Support Business Development with Scheduling Deliverables
  • Key Duties
    • Develop, maintain, and update integrated project schedules using Primavera P6
    • Review schedule progress, critical path activities, milestones, and schedule variances
    • Coordinate schedule updates with Project Managers, Production, Planning, Engineering, Estimating, and Contracts to maintain accurate project schedules
    • Identify schedule risks, resource constraints, and potential impacts to project milestones, recommending corrective actions when appropriate
    • Support EVMS reporting and schedule performance analysis
    • Develop/Maintain/Review manpower loading, resource utilization, and production forecasts to support efficient project execution
    • Prepare scheduling reports, dashboards, and presentations for management and project teams
    • Assist with Project Management Team (PMT) meetings by providing schedule status, analysis, and recommendations
    • Resolve day-to-day scheduling conflicts and facilitate communication between departments to support production objectives
    • Assist with implementation of scheduling process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives
    • Monitor scheduling software utilization and assist with testing, implementation, and ser support for scheduling tools and system enhancements
    • Ensure scheduling documentation is maintained in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements
    • Develops/Reviews “Request for Pricing” or bid deliverables
    • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Measurable Outcomes
    • Maintains accurate project schedules that reflect current production status and contractual milestones
    • Schedule updates are completed within established departmental timeframes
    • Schedule risks and variances are identified and communicated to management in a timely manner
    • Required EVMS and scheduling reports are completed accurately and submitted by established deadlines
    • Scheduling support is provided to project teams while maintaining compliance with company procedures and contractual requirements
    • Employee training, coaching, and performance feedback are conducted in accordance with company policies
    • Scheduling conflicts are resolved promptly to minimize impacts on production schedules
    • Bid deliverables are produced in an accurate and timely fashion then delivered for Director level review to meet Business Development timelines

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, climb stairs and ladders, and occasionally lift or carry up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to read technical documents, schedules, drawings, and computer screens, and communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and electronically
  • Ability to work in both office and shipyard environments, including boarding vessels and accessing production areas
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, confined spaces, and industrial hazards while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE)

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to Engineering & Scheduling Manager
  • Supervises Scheduling personnel, collaborates regularly with Production, Planning, Business Development, Engineering, Estimating, Contracts, Project Management, Finance, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and other support departments
  • Interacts with Naval Sea Systems Command, Naval Ship Support Activity, Military Sealift Command, U.S. Coast Guard, customers, subcontractors, vendors, and other external stakeholders as required

  • Must be willing and able to travel as required
  • Must possess reliable transportation
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any required security clearance
  • Must maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality
  • Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and alternate shifts as business needs require
  • Must comply with all company safety, quality, environmental, and security policies
