  1. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE (Job Description)
     

The Senior Database Developer is responsible for performing routine maintenance of database servers, developing reports to be consumed by all levels of the organization, performing data extraction/transformation/loads between databases, and to assist Software Engineers with the database engine level aspects of their applications. Within broad objectives, this position performs in a professional position requiring high level specialized knowledge and experience, demonstrates ability to analyze complex problems, research and synthesize data, and propose unique solutions or alternatives, and is a recognized leader in one or more disciplines.  Serves as a prime point of contact for clients. Inaccurate information, analyses, and decisions may significantly impact client/Company relationships, damage Company's reputation, and jeopardize organization's competitive position.  

 

  1. POSITION DEMANDS (Education/Training)

                   

Typically has a BA/BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Science or a related academic field plus 3 years directly related experience or AA/AS plus 5 years directly related experience or 7 years directly related experience.

 

POSITION DEMANDS (Required Experience)

 

  • 5 years’ experience writing reports using SSRS/SSIS with Microsoft SQL Server backend.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server database maintenance plans.
  • 2 years programming experience with .NET.
  • Knowledge of Telerik or other reporting tools is a plus.

  1. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

 

The Senior Database Developer reports to the Software Manager. The position works with all levels of users in developing reports.

 

  1. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Maintaining new and existing databases
  • Monitors database scheduled jobs to ensure proper execution.
  • Designs new database jobs and processes for business driven needs.
  • Designs new SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages
  • Collaborate with software developers on designing, testing and implementation tasks
  • Designs new and optimize existing SQL queries.
  • Writes Database maintenance plans.
  • Ensures that business requirements and customer specifications are consistently being met.
  • Communicate options and decision points to IT and the customer where alternative solutions exist.
  • Ensures that business requirements and customer specifications are consistently being met.
  • Recommends appropriate security measures in database systems.
  • Encourages technical excellence and continual improvement.
  • Ensures proper documentation of solutions.
  • Performs additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.

 

  1. ACCOUNTABILITY

 

Responsible for performing routine maintenance of database servers, developing reports to be consumed by all levels of the organization, and to assist Software Engineers with the database engine level aspects of their applications.  Responsible to monitoring and constantly improving company’s security posture.

 

  1. UNIQUE/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Regular, reliable attendance on-site is an essential function of the job. Must be willing to work nights and weekends as required to maintain systems with minimal impact on end computer system users.

Must be willing to work additional hours or nights and weekends as necessary to ensure that systems are operational at all core hours with minimal impact on end computer system users. Must have current driver’s license and be insurable under NASSCO’s Policy.  A credit check will be required for this position.
