We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Human Resources department. This position specifically is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for a Talent Acquisition Supervisor.

SUMMARY

The Talent Acquisition Supervisor is responsible for supervising the talent acquisition, recruitment, onboarding, and orientation processes and strategies for employees and the temporary workforce. Prepares and provides information on employee demographics, trends, and projections to senior management. This position reports to the Human Resources Manager, Employee & Labor Relations.  Maintains internal contacts with all departments, outside agencies, vendors and other organizations.  May supervise up to two Talent Acquisition Specialists.

                                                                                      

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

Assist in the oversight of the Talent Acquisition focus area, some of which may be accomplished through supervision of others to include, but is not limited to:

  • Plan and conduct recruitment and selection processes.
  • Liaises with outside partners for recruiting. 
  • Plans, coordinates and attends job fairs.
  • Interfaces with all levels of management in developing recruiting and resource labor plans and manning requirements, current staffing needs, and forecasts. 
  • Works with resource labor agencies involving hourly and salaried temporary employees.
  • Develops user procedures, guidelines and documentation; provides training as required. 
  • Develops and maintains informational reports using data from various Human Resource systems.
  • Assist with employee retention and development.
  • Lead employee branding initiatives
  • Regular, reliable attendance on-site is an essential function of the job
  • Any special projects or other task assigned as required.

  

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent, plus 4- 6 years of experience.
  • Proficient in the use of social media and job boards
  • Willingness to understand the duties and competencies of different roles within the company.
  • Must have working knowledge of HR concepts, practices and procedures. 
  • Must be well organized, excellent communicator, and have good interpersonal skills. 
  • Knowledge of the employment process, state and federal labor laws, Equal Employment Opportunity laws, labor union contracts and benefits as necessary.
  • Must have good understanding of statistical concepts and applications.
  • Experience in full-cycle recruiting, sourcing and employment branding
  • Working knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and databases
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, i.e. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and Access.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize based on business needs, and work well within a fast-paced, project-focused environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of equal employment opportunity laws, ADA, Affirmative Action Plans, OFCCP and other government compliance regulations that affect job recruitment.

Regularly required to sit; use hand and fingers, handle or feel objects, or controls; and to talk and hear.  Must be physically able to commute to various areas in shipyard.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.  The noise level in this environment is usually moderate.
