We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Engineering department. This position specifically is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for a Test and Trials Manager. The hours are 7am-4pm, Monday-Friday.

  1. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE (Job Description)

 

Functions as the team lead in ship system integration and test operations. The Test and Trial manager is the focal point of the Maintenance Team for all test related evolutions from hydrostatic testing to generator synchronization.

 

  1. POSITION DEMANDS

 

    1. Extensive knowledge of hull, mechanical and electrical systems and their operation through all phases including system upgrades & modifications . .
    2. Some experience in troubleshooting systems is desirable.
    3. Will be required to integrate testing requirements provided by different manufacturers/engineering groups into an overall test plan and progress the plan during the execution phase.
    4. Must be able to work at heights and in confined or restricted spaces.
    5. Daily inspections may require climbing ladders and masts, walking on scaffolding and observing tools, test equipment and/or machinery while in operation .
    6. Must be able to handle stressful situations and react quickly to changes in plant/equipment status.
    7. Physical dexterity must allow for bending and reaching, extended periods of standing and walking (8 hours a day) .
    8. Proactive approach to ship wide test requirements as it applies to individual Maintenance Team member participation.
    9. Basic computer skills are required.
  1. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

 

  1. Reports to the Director of Programs.
  2. Will supervise Test Coordinators and Technicians and provide guidance during deck plate evolutions .
  3. Will interface and coordinate engineering groups, planning groups, production groups, management , quality assurance, ships crews, and other disciplines as required.
  4. Will determine testing priorities and be required to ensure all prerequisites are met to complete integrated testing within the schedule parameters.

 

  1. PRINCIPAL  RESPONSIBILITIES

 

A .     Provide assistance regarding test requirements to the Maintenance Team ensuring test procedures are current and applicable .

    1. Provide integrated test plan by interfacing with Master Planners and Maintenance Team members.
    2. Be the single point of contact for all Maintenance Team members and Field Representatives.
    3. Responsible for the overall system integration of the ship. This includes but is not limited to power generation, automation , main propulsion, bridge electronics , auxiliary machinery and deck machinery.
    4. Responsible for the security of all required test memos, procedures and instructions that require a signature of completion and/or acceptance by the customer. Final disposition of this data will be as directed .
    5. Serves as chair person during joint test meetings and responsible for the timely distribution of minutes to all Maintenance Team members..
    6. Other responsibilit ies and duties as assigned .
