Job Summary:

Operates single and double trolley bridge cranes of various sizes to lift and move heavy objects such as steel and structural members.  Repositions crane to raise and lower load.  Inspects crane for defective parts and performs simple and routine maintenance.  Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

 

Qualification Standards:

Knowledge of mechanical and crane operation principles required.   NASSCO training and certification will be required. Must possess excellent hand, foot and eye coordination. Must have ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and be available to work any shift. Must comprehend written and verbal instructions and hear warning signals, read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings.

 

Essential Job Tasks:

  1. Operate a single or double trolley crane to transfer loads such as steel, structural members, pallets and gang boxes
  2. Inspect crane and perform minor routine maintenance and repairs,, clean windows
  3. Rig material and/or ships assembly
  4. Set up slings, chains other materials as assigned
  5. Other tasks as may be assigned relevant to the trade

 

Materials, Tools Equipment, Work Aids:

Basic hand tools, gloves, chains, slings, load chart, rigging materials & cranes. Personal protective equipment required.

 

Physical/Mental Involvement:

Frequent climbing vertical ladders, balancing, lifting minimum 20 lbs., sitting, reaching, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, leaning and seeing (to maintain visual contact with load), eye/hand/foot coordination, hearing, speaking, and seeing, depth perception needed to make adjustments. Hearing warning signals and reading and comprehending safety instructions. Must be able to maintain general safety awareness and avoid hazards commonly present in employee’s work area.

 

Marginal Job Tasks:

Housekeeping in all work areas, including sweeping. May be required to attend safety, quality and/or process improvement meetings.

 

Environmental Factors:

Exposure fumes, odors, dust, gases, various climates and temperatures and low ventilation conditions, all of which can cause discomfort and/or respiratory difficulties. Exposure to constantly moving machines, mechanical parts, and high levels of constant noise.

 

 

Pay Scale: $30.24 - $30.74
 


This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
