Job Summary

Operates  Single and Double Trolley Bridge Cranes of various sizes to lift and move heavy objects such as steel and structural members.  Repositions crane to raise and lower load.  Inspects crane for defective parts and  performs simple maintenance.  Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

 

 

Qualification Standards

Ability to read and write, comprehend and react quickly to warning signals and verbal instructions (in English) is required.  Must be able to coordinate hand, foot and eye movement; knowledge of mechanical and crane operation principles required.   NASSCO training and certification will be required.

 

 

Essential Job Tasks

1.          Operates a Single or Double Trolley Cranes requiring to  transfer loads such as Steel, Structural members,  pallets and gang boxes.

2.          Routinely inspects crane and performs minor maintenance, cleans windows, makes basic repairs.

 

 

Materials, Tools Equipment, Work Aids

Basic hand tools, gloves, chains, slings, load chart, and materials to be moved.

 

 

Physical/Mental Involvement

Climbing vertical  ladders, balancing, and  lifting.  Lifting body weight, sitting, reaching, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, leaning and seeing (to maintain visual contact with load), eye/hand/foot coordination,  hearing, speaking, and seeing.  Maintains constant safety awareness depth perception needed to make adjustments.

 

 

Marginal Job Tasks

1.    Rig's material and/or ships assembly

2.    Sets up slings, chains, etc.

 

 

Materials, Tools, Equipment, Work Aids

Rigging materials, machinery to be moved, hand tools, cranes.

 

 

Physical/Mental Involvement

Standing, walking, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching,  handling, seeing.  Planning sequence and maintaining safety awareness.

 

 

Environmental Factors

Exposure to wind, rain, ambient temperatures such as extreme heat and cold, wet and humid conditions, dust, toxic/caustic chemicals.  Works at heights of up to 50'.  Exposed to constant machinery noise, and noise from other trades.
