JOB SUMMARY
Installs, repairs and hooks up equipment for all electrical services on the ship. Lays out, pulls, lifts out and installs cable and conduit. Prepares work area, drills holes and grinds metal surfaces welds mounting equipment. Tests electrical equipment. Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Must have knowledge about electrical, mechanical and ship building practices. Ability to use power and hand tools and read composite blueprints, computer printouts, and Navy standards manuals are required. Must pass NASSCO assessment or be in a training program. Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces and to access and move around the ship safely.
ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS
1.    Prepares work areas, drills holes and grinds metal surfaces.
2.    Installs, welds, and hooks up equipment
3.    Lays out, pulls, rips out, repairs and installs cable and conduit.
4.    Tests electrical equipment.
5.    Reads composite blueprints, computer printouts and Navy standards manual.
MATERIALS, TOOLS EQUIPMENT, WORK AIDS
Measuring equipment, hammers, drills, grinder, welding equipment, hand tools, cable cutters, electrical tape, screwdrivers, electrical test equipment, blueprints, and Navy standards manual and protective equipment.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL INVOLVEMENT
Frequent lifting, carrying, pulling and pushing cable and equipment to rip out or install. Frequent standing, walking, climbing both ladders and equipment, reaching overhead and in front, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, seeing and hearing, and occasional reclining or kneeling to hook up equipment in hard to reach places.
MARGINAL JOB TASKS
Removes scrap and performs general cleaning and sweeping. (this task may become essential depending on how may people are available or if trainee is working with the electrician).

Cleaning equipment.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL INVOLVEMENT
Occasional lifting, pushing, pulling scrap or brooms, reaching, seeing and hearing. Maintaining safety awareness.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
Exposed to fumes, odors, dust and gases. Exposed to electrical wire that may cause electrical shock. Exposed to moving machines and mechanical parts. Temperatures and ventilation may cause discomfort. Exposed to high levels of constant noise.
PAYSCALE:
$27.55 -$28.90
This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the hourly range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
