SUMMARY
The Engineering Control Analyst I supports the Engineering team by managing and streamlining documentation, engineering change processes, and compliance efforts. This role ensures the integrity of engineering data, coordinates cross-functional collaboration, and analyzes control systems to enhance efficiency. The analyst works closely with design, procurement, and production teams to ensure project goals are met and aligned with shipbuilding standards. Duties will involve supporting multiple customers in the organization on projects of widely varying complexity, duration, and priority.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Provides administrative and analytical support related to engineering documentation
- Prepares documentation for approval and distribution to internal and external customers
- Responsible for maintaining an organized and detailed library of project documentation
- Stores, manages, and tracks records and documents to include off-site storage locations
- Contributes to development of department policies, procedures, instructions and guides
- Manages, tracks, and develops projections for direct and overhead expenditure of labor and material cost
- Assists with the development of presentations, proposals, and decision-making documents
- Assists Engineers in writing equipment and/or system purchase specifications
- Works with NASSCO Supply Chain Management and Suppliers to expedite submittal of vendor inforation in accordance with agreed schedules
- Assists Engineers in reviewing vendor information for acceptability and completeness
- Provides comments on vendor information, coordinates and collates other Engineering groups’ comments to ensure comments are accurate and concise
- Provides guidance on distribution of vendor information
- Prepare scope for change orders and Engineering estimates
- Participates effectively in problem resolution teams
- Demonstrates professional and business skill aptitude
- Other responsibilities and duties as assigned
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree, bachelor's degree preferred
- Ability to work effectively in a group and to actively cultivate a vibrant team environment
- Willingness to make difficult decisions with incomplete or contradictory information
- Proficient in general computer and documentation skills, including Microsoft Office applications and FTP
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- High attention to detail
- Will work directly with all project stakeholders, including customers and regulatory bodies
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects, or controls, and to talk and hear. Must be physically able to walk to all yard locations, including aboard ships. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
PAY SCALE
$54,500 - $70,500
This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
