SUMMARY

 

Provides trade specific schedules.  Performs outfitting work breakdown and sequencing based on established production rates. 

 

Master Planning: Reports to the Master Planning Supervisor.  Interfaces with other Master planners, Outfit Production Control, and Production supervisors.  Outfit Planning: Reports to the Planning Team Leader responsible for the assigned PC.  Interfaces with other Outfit planners, Engineering designers, Production Control material personnel, and Production supervisors.  Steel Planning: Reports to the Steel Planning Supervisor.  Interfaces with other Steel planners, and Engineering designers.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

 

  • Master Planning:
    •      Assist in development of Master Planning strategies for use by other departments. 
    •      Assist in development of Milestone Schedules.
    •      Assist in development of detailed Pallet Schedules and sequences. 
    •      Assist in development of Capacity analysis.
    •      Assist in support of department process improvement initiatives. 
    •      Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

 

  • Outfit Planning:
  • Prepare detail planning work instructions, including material palletizing and routing, that directly support installation of outfitting equipment and components. 
  • Develops budgets required to install materials identified in work instructions. 
  • Support department process improvement initiatives. 
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

 

  • Steel Planning:
  • Develop Steel Planning products. 
  • Coordinate with other Production and Planning organizations.
  • Resolve planning problems identified by appropriate Planning and Production supervisors. 
  • Support department process improvement initiatives. 
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

 

High School graduation, or equivalent, plus two (2) years of journeyman-level work in any Product Category (PC). 

 

  • Knowledge of:
    • Basic trade specific blueprint reading.
    • NASSCO Manufacturing Standards.
    • One or more NASSCO production work processes.
    • Stage of Construction (SOC) breakdown and philosophy.
    • Basic Build Strategy Concepts.
    • Operation of the Labor Management System (LMS).
    • Operation of the MAC/PAC information system.
    • NASSCO Planning processes.
    • Trade production rates.
    • NASSCO safety policy.

 

  • Skill in:
    • Work scope identification.
    • Work sequencing and scheduling.
    • Use of the Labor Management System (LMS).
    • Use of the MAC/PAC information system.
    • Communication orally, including effective participation in discussions and meetings.
    • Communication in writing, including ability to produce short, factual material.
    • Interpersonal working relationships, with emphasis on cooperation and teamwork.

 

  • Additional Knowledge and Skill Requirements:  Master Planning
    • Master Planning processes fundamentals.
    • Integrated schedule development for more than one (1) PC and SOC.
    • Master Planning strategy development.

    • Blueprint and composite drawing analysis.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

Requires ability to physically commute to various areas of the shipyard including but not limited to shipboard activities.  Must be capable of climbing ladders and transiting through manholes and other confined, congested spaces.  Physical dexterity must allow for bending and reaching.  Must maintain mental alertness and all safety requirements, particularly when transiting in production areas.  While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to dust, welding/burning fumes, and smoke.  Must be able to spend up to 50% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates.  The noise level is usually low to moderate in office environments and moderate to noisy in production environments 70% of the time.  Production noise may include sirens, horns, chipping, and hammering.

PAY SCALE

$43,400-$56,500

 

This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
