SUMMARY
Provide critical project support to the Ship’s Management team in order to achieve the department’s safety, cost, schedule, and quality objectives. The Production Operations Analyst is expected to coordinate and collaborate with internal and external department personnel to achieve the ship management’s objectives. Implement continuous improvement initiatives with regard to H.S.E. compliance, cost reduction, cycle time reduction, and first time quality to attain future goals. Reports to the Department Manager. Authority and responsibilities will be assigned at the discretion of the Department Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Housekeeping, Safety, Environmental:

- Responsible for monitoring the Pier, the Build Position, and onboard the Ship daily to identify potential housekeeping and safety hazards – Coordinates resources to resolve hazards immediately
- Responsible for managing the pier and build position housekeeping process - maintains housekeeping assignments and coordinates turnovers - Performs housekeeping audits and corrective action reports
- Attends all onboard safety audits and walkthroughs – assists Area Managers to resolve issues
- Leads all environmental audits for their assigned ship – Works closely with the environmental engineers and takes the lead to provide corrective actions and ensures all issues are resolved
- Analyzes safety, housekeeping, and environmental trends and provides pro-active improvement initiatives
- Actively participates in the SOC 6 ASIG and helps the ASIG Lead with related tasks
- Participates in all SOC 6 ASIG audits
- Attends 5 minute meetings to share H.S.E. initiatives and general ship related announcements
- Actively maintains and manages H.S.E. signage on the piers, build positions, and onboard the ships
- Attends all production meetings for their assigned ship and reports on H.S.E. status and analysis

Resource Management, SOC 6 Logistics, Material Management:

- Responsible for managing crane and transportation priorities for their assigned ship – takes the lead on coordinating and collaborating with area managers and trade supervisors to develop efficient and effective crane/transportation schedules – works closely with their pier coordinator and rigging supervisor to execute plans
- Responsible for managing, maintaining, and enforcing the SOC 6 Logistics process for their assigned ship – monitors the pier daily and performs weekly audits to ensure compliance with the process and the 5S plan
- Responsible for managing and maintaining gang box areas, job box areas, hazmat areas, lunch rooms, and restroom areas for their assigned pier as per the pier’s 5S plan
- Schedules periodic stenciling of the pier and surrounding areas through the maintenance team
- Responsible for developing an equipment rental schedule with the area managers and coordinating all rentals for the ship they’re assigned to - Provide a monthly cost analysis of the ship’s rental usage and initiate cost down ideas
- Attends all production meetings for their assigned ship. Responsible for developing and providing:
- Daily crane & transportation support schedule
- Daily analysis of material volume on the pier
- Audits the SOC 6 Logistics Process and provides results and corrective actions
- Identifies loitering time of materials, equipment, and supplies on the pier with corrective actions
- Rental equipment assignments and return dates
- Support Services report for POD’s

General Support:
- Assist production support specialists, area managers, and ship managers with special requests:
- Participate in various area managers inspections
- Ordering Q-Parts, Trash Chutes, Portable restrooms, and other supplies
- Coordinating logistics when there is a ship movement
- Assists as needed to coordinate and support ship tours and special events such as Ship Launches, Undocking, Sea Trials, and Delivery
- Cover for Area Managers in their absence
- Identify, implement and monitor continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost, reduce cycle time, improve quality, improve safety
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s Degree, or equivalent experience
- Two to three (2-3) years related work work experience; exiperience in the US Navy or other military service highly desired
- Knowledge of MAC PAC material requirements planning system
- Knowledge of Microsoft project, Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, and Tableau
- Experience in making professional presentations
- Working knowledge of: scheduling techniques (PERT, CPA, GANTT); process control techniques; trend analysis; problem identification and problem solving techniques
- Must be self-motivated, proactive individual with strong interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills. Must be computer literate
- Possess a general knowledge of NASSCO policies and procedures, safety policy and facilities
- Actively participates in implementing and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, improve quality, reduce cycle time, and reduce costs
- HAZMAT Coordinator Certified
- High Reach Certified
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is performed in an office setting, outdoors, and onboard a ship. Employee is expected to be able to walk up and down stairs and occasionally climb up and down vertical ladders onboard the ship. The employee may need to access high areas via incline ladder, straight ladder, or boom lift. On occasion, some light to moderate lifting could be requested.
ACCOUNTABILITY
The Production Operations Analyst I is accountable for providing the agreed deliverables necessary to support the department’s objectives.
Pay Range
$57,100 - $79,400
This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
