SUMMARY Performs inspections and other quality assurance functions required to substantiate conformance to shipbuilding and repair drawings, specifications, and contract requirements. Conducts audit, surveillance, drafts reports, reviews technical documentation and performs other quality related administrative tasks in all phases and stages of ship construction and/or repair. Reports to Supervisor or Manager of Quality Assurance. Maintains internal contacts with Purchasing, Warehousing, Safety, Production, and Engineering. Outside contacts include equipment vendors, customers, regulatory agencies and SupShip/MSC/Navy personnel.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing. Requires ability to commute physically to various areas of the shipyard including but not limited to shipboard activities. Must be capable of ascending/descending stairs or ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, and transiting through manholes and other confined, congested spaces. Physical dexterity must allow for bending and reaching. Must remain alert and comply with all safety requirements. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed occasionally to dust, fumes, and smoke. Must be able to spend up to 80% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates. The noise level is relatively low to moderate in office environments. The noise level in the outdoor shipyard production environment is moderate to noisy 70% of time which may include sirens, horns, chipping, and hammering.
ACCOUNTABILITY Successful accomplishment of the assigned tasks will directly relate to NASSCOs ability to build ships in a cost effective manner, reducing rework and providing a quality product to the customer.

Pay Scale
$58,500 - $92,292
This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
