SUMMARY

The Senior Compensation Analyst is responsible for delivering the compensation function in support of HR leadership across all NASSCO locations. The Senior Compensation Analyst develops, recommends and implements new and revised compensation programs, policies and procedures to align with the company's goals and competitive practices. This position is also responsible for ensuring that company compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with internal policies, guidelines, and government regulations.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Collaborates closely with the Manager of Total Rewards and HRIS in the development, implementation and administration of all compensation programs.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommends changes that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and corporate objectives.
  • Maintains focus on supporting a high-performing culture and competitive employer position.
  • Responsible for all compensation analysis in support of Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations.
  • Provides advice to management on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations.
  • Designs creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs and incentive plans.
  • Partners with the People Data team on techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data.
  • Runs participation in salary surveys and monitors salary survey data to ensure corporate compensation objectives are achieved.
  • Audits all plans to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations.
  • Maintains and updates all internal compensation-related guidelines, policies and instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of all federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements related to employee compensation.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data (i.e., conducting multiple linear regression analysis).
  • Computer proficiency and advanced technical aptitude with the Microsoft products, including Excel.
  • Advanced time management skills and ability to plan and set priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with senior management

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, human resources or related field and six years of progressively responsible experience in employee compensation.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations as they apply to base compensation and incentive compensation programs, company policies, and operations.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) credentials a plus.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.  Regularly required to sit, use hands to fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and maintain the ability to commute to other buildings in and outside the shipyards for meetings, presentations and training.  Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.
