SUMMARY

The Compensation Lead is responsible for delivering the compensation function in support of HR leadership across all NASSCO locations. This position includes a high-profile opportunity to lead our Total Compensation Project: Working with leadership to design new compensation philosophy, policies and practices; Developing and managing a process to review and update job descriptions; Performing market pricing and updated salary structures; Analyzing market position and collaborating with leadership on an implementation plan.  The Compensation Lead designs, manages and analyzes compensation programs in alignment with the company's goals, market competitiveness and internal equity. This position is also responsible for ensuring that company compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Partner with the Manager of Total Rewards & HRIS in the development, implementation and administration of all compensation programs.
  • Manage participation in salary surveys and analyze results to determine competitive positioning.
  • Maintain and update all internal compensation-related guidelines, policies and instructions.
  • Collaborate with departments to perform analysis for new positions or restructures, developing an equitable and competitive solution.
  • Provide advice to management on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations.
  • Conduct compensation analysis in support of Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations.
  • Participate in administration of annual merit and incentive programs.
  • Audit compensation plans to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of all federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements related to employee compensation.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret data, recognize trends and develop materials to present key findings to various levels of leadership.
  • Advanced Excel skills; proficient in other Microsoft products.
  • Advanced time management skills and project management experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate findings and recommendations with senior management.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, human resources or related field and four to six years of progressively responsible experience in employee compensation.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) credentials a plus.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.  Regularly required to sit, use hands to fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and maintain the ability to commute to other buildings in and outside the shipyards for meetings, presentations and training.  Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.

 

ACCOUNTABILITY

This position reports to Manager of Total Rewards & HRIS and is supported by the shared resources of Total Rewards team members. This role must demonstrate high integrity, solid work ethics and a commitment to General Dynamics NASSCO.

 

 

 

PAYSCALE: $109,140 - $141,240

This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
