JOB SUMMARY

Leads and directs groups of workers  while performing same duties as workers.   Receives instructions and work specifications from Supervisor and transmits them to workers performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

        


QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Two to four years Journeyman with  previous Lead or supervisory experience required.  Ability to understand verbal and written instructions (in English) required.  Required to communicate effectively.  Other requirements will vary according to the trade classification.  See trade class job description for specific information.  Must be able to work any shift and at heights.

        


ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS

  1. Motivates workers to meet production standards.
  2.  Assists workers and Leadman to solve work-related problems.
  3.  Assigns and explains tasks to Leadman.
  4. Inspects machines, equipment, incoming materials and completed work

 5. Records time and production data.

 6. Supervisory functions are secondary to production duties

PHYSICAL/MENTAL INVOLVEMENT

Must be able to comprehend verbal and written instructions, and be able to deliver same to his/her crew.   Lifting/carrying tools and parts weighing over 50 lbs. on frequent basis.  Standing, bending, sitting, reaching, pushing, pulling, crouching, kneeling, handling, fingering, feeling, eye/hand/foot coordination, seeing hearing.  Selecting appropriate tools for jobs, as per trade classification.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

Works in tight, confined work spaces on board ship and is exposed to varied temperatures, wind, wet and humid conditions, fumes, odors and dust, vibrations from ship and hand tools, constant moving machinery, toxic and caustic chemicals.  Works at varied heights and inside more than 50%.  Constantly exposed to loud machine and tool noise.

 

PAYSCALE: $34.17 - $35.52

 

 

This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the hourly range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
