SUMMARY
Maintain GD NASSCO ledgers and financial statements to ensure timeliness and quality of financial information. In conjunction with the Accounting Supervisor, prepare consolidated financial statements for distribution to management and submission to GD corporate office. Reports to the General Accounting Supervisor and/or General Accounting Manager. Interfaces with NASSCO Management and Departments: A/P, A/R, Payroll, Finance, Tax, Facilities, among other NASSCO departments. External contacts include, intercompany business units, internal and external auditing firms, tax authorities and governmental agencies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Preparation and completion of both monthly and quarterly financial statement consolidations and financial report required by GD CHQ. Ensuring that all GD CHQ expected reporting deadlines are met and information is accurate and complete.
- Monitor and coordinate financial reporting with related business units.
- Review and prepare: month-end journal entries, month end overhead allocation and validate cost system interfaces.
- Preparation and review of various account analyses and account reconciliations.
- Oversee the OneStream/Hyperion system financial data uploading ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Manage and reconcile cash and foreign currencies accounts (if assigned).
- Monitor cash transactions and maintain accurate cash account reconciliations. Ensure accuracy of inter-company transactions and outstanding balances among intercompany units (if assigned).
- Actively participating in implementation and monitoring of continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, improve quality, reduce cycle time, and reduce costs.
- Support external and internal audit information requests.
- Communicate with GD CHQ and other business units for supporting intercompany reports.
- Maintain current documentation of processes in areas of responsibility.
- Recording all fix assets activity and maintaining the fixed asset ledger
- Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires a bachelor’s degree, with an emphasis in accounting, finance or other business related field of study. Preference given to emphasis in accounting or finance.
- Actively participates in implementing and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, improve quality, reduce cycle time and reduce costs.
- This position requires the ability to read, understand and interpret financial data; to plan work and manage time effectively, to utilize effective interpersonal skills, to resolve conflicts, and to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in the following computer applications: Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with SAP a plus but not required.
- Must have the ability to express ideas in oral and written formats and demonstrate a high degree of personal flexibility.

PAY SCALE
$70,300 - $96,700
This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
