ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE

Prepares and analyzes financial forecasts, cost forecasts, and other special projects. Reports to the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis. Maintains internal contacts with Program Finance, Supply Chain Management, Contracts, Planning, Estimating, and ISD. Interfaces with all levels of management. External contact maintained with DCAA and SUPSHIP.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares cost forecasts with input from other departments. Prepares program estimate-at complete forecasts for internal management use and external financial reporting.
  • Prepares financial reports and forecasts for corporate analysis and the parent company.
  • Performs analyses on special projects, such as return-on-investment calculations.
  • Develops cash forecasts incorporating billings and timephased cost for each program.
  • Assists and trains individuals in junior positions. Reviews work of junior analysts for accuracy.
  • Evaluate existing processes for continuous improvement.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

 

POSITION DEMANDS

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field, Master's preferred, plus extensive knowledge or experience in the preparation of financial forecasts. Eight or more (8+) years experience required. Familiarity with finance and accounting principles, analytical and interpretative methods of evaluating a business entity's financial condition, and general macro-economic conditions and principles required. Extensive financial modeling skills, using spreadsheet applications. Strong verbal and written communication skills and analytical abilities necessary. Some knowledge of EVMS (Earned Value Management System) principles desired, not required. Must be able to work when needed which may include holidays, weekends, overtime, and occasional travel.

 

PHYSICAL DEMAND REQUIREMENTS 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects or controls, and to talk and hear. The noise level in this environment is usually moderate.

 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis. Coordination is required between various NASSCO departments and Government departments. Develops professional contacts with Accounting, Program Finance, Supply Chain Management, Contracts, Planning, Estimating, and ISD. Interfaces with all levels of management.

 

ACCOUNTABILITY

Employee responsible for ensuring that all reporting is prepared accurately, timely, and in accordance with specifications. Responsible for scheduling own activities and completing work product with minimal supervision while ensuring deadlines are met. Has an understanding of the overall operations and specific tasks assigned and contributes to the achievement of operational goals and objectives.

 

PAY SCALE

$116,400 - $150,600

 

This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
