SUMMARY

As a member of the IT Infrastructure and Technical Solutions team, the System Engineer brings strong technical expertise and actively contributes to the design, administration, upgrade, and maintenance of NASSCO’s infrastructure hardware and software.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Provides expert level insights and hands-on contribution to the design and management of our cloud infrastructure and mobile services
  • Shares responsibilities for server performance, security, availability and standardization.
  • Troubleshoots infrastructure problems and coordinates preventive maintenance.
  • Formulates plans and leads the execution of infrastructure changes.
  • Provides configuration, support and provisioning services for our cloud environment.
  • Participates in the management of end points using Intune, Workspace ONE or other toolset(s).
  • Assists the software developers and applications specialists in the deployment and troubleshooting of a wide variety of software products.
  • Develops technical solutions and standard procedures for day-to-day administration of the infrastructure.
  • Monitors key system metrics to identify trends and analysis using monitoring tools.
  • Prepares status reports to reflect project progress against plan.
  • Actively participates in implementing and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety and quality, reduce cycle time, and minimize cost.
  • Provides after-hours support for infrastructure related emergencies as well occasional weekend maintenance.
  • Stays current on industry trends and technology advancements, provide training and mentorship to team members.
  • Assists less experienced Desktop and System Administrators with problem resolution requiring advanced skills.
  • Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Sciences, or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Required Technical Skills:
    • Understanding of cloud security concepts, technologies and best practices.
    • Experience with government and industry standards such as NIST and FedRAMP.
    • Experience with management of Azure AD and Azure tenant in GCC High cloud.
  • Highly Desirable Technical Skills:
    • Cloud-related Microsoft certification.
    • Experience with migration from Microsoft on-premise to M365, Exchange online, SharePoint online, and Intune.
    • Working knowledge of PowerShell Scripting.
  • Ability to work effectively with various groups in developing solutions to problems.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in written form technical material, problem definition, and status on assignment.
  • Positive attitude toward customer service is required.
  • Must be self-motivated and take a proactive approach to responsibilities.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

     Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects, or controls, and to talk and hear.  Must be physically able to walk to all yard locations.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

 

Pay Scale

$114,600 - $148,300

 

This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
