SUMMARY
Assists supervisor by leading teams of three or more personnel, including specialists, planners, analysts and support personnel. Assists Supervisor in scoping, planning, scheduling and controlling completion of all work assigned to team. A highly effective point of contact for team. Provides mentoring and training to team as required. Provides technical problem resolution, effectively coordinating with others.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the effective day-to-day non-organizational leadership of assigned group, resulting in the group’s successful completion of assigned tasks
- Ensures accomplishment of design goals, including implementation of build strategy, productivity/DFP, and standards

Organizes and leads assigned team, providing daily technical support and direction

Interfaces with other Engineering groups, and with Production, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Suppliers, Regulatory Bodies, and other disciplines as required

Works to priorities established by Supervisor, scheduling and planning work as necessary to complete required tasks. This includes preparation and maintenance of resource plans, work package definition, product attribute sheets, check sheets, progressing data, and schedule and cost performance tracking
- Responsible for maintaining expertise at “State of the Art” level
- Represents division/department interdepartmental meetings, walkabouts
- Represents company on official business as directed
- Make presentations
- Makes recommendations to Supervisor for Promotions, terminations and other personnel adjustments
- Assumes additional responsibilities or performs varying work as work situations dictate
- Provides training and mentoring to design staff

QUALIFICATIONS
- Two (2) years Associate’s Degree or equivalent; Bachelor’s in Engineering preferred. Five (5) years of experience in marine field, or two (2) years experience plus Bachelor’s degree. One (1) year of this experience at a Senior Designer level or demonstrated competence in performing Team Lead duties for a minimum of six (6) months

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The essential functions of this role require work in both an office and industrial setting. The role requires prolonged periods of working in a stationary position, operating a computer, computer programs, and standard office equipment necessary to perform the essential duties. The role requires perceiving information and communicating effectively with others in person, online, and on the phone. The role also requires prolonged periods of working in indoor and outdoor industrial settings. Must have the ability to safely access, navigate, and traverse the shipyard, construction areas, production areas, ships, and warehouses. Must be able to transit uneven surfaces, and be agile to move quickly to avoid hazards and respond to unexpected obstacles. Must be able to observe, detect, identify, perceive, recognize, and process information to remain alert and timely comply with all safety requirements. Must be able to move, transport, and use equipment necessary to perform the essential duties. Duties performed on ships require ascending and descending stairs and ladders, transiting on scaffolding and at heights, transiting through manholes and other narrow, confined, or congested spaces. This position requires exposure to industrial areas which contain hazardous materials, loud noise (including sirens, horns, chipping, slamming, and hammering), dust, fumes, and exposure to weather.
PAY SCALE
$107,000 - $149,300
This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
