SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-driven program specialist to support both our Talent Acquisition and Talent Development functions. This role manages complex, cross-functional projects that drive our workforce strategy—from professional development initiatives to recruitment and hiring efforts. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has excellent organizational and communication skills, is a natural problem-solver, and consistently delivers accurate and timely results. The Workforce Strategy Specialist will coordinate and monitor programs, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the requirements of our organization and stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Coordinate and track multiple projects across the Talent Development and Talent Acquisition teams.
- Develop and maintain talent acquisition and retention strategy for college students and veterans. Coordinate recruitment and strategic sourcing activities.
- Monitor the progress of programs, such as Skillbridge, Professional Development Program, Dependent Scholarship Program, and external leadership programs.
- Facilitate cross-departmental communication, ensuring tasks, timelines, and responsibilities are clearly defined and met.
- Collaborate with staffing to identify, plan, promote, execute, and attend recruiting events and career fairs.
- Maintain detailed documentation, tracking tools, and reporting dashboards for key HR metrics and initiatives.
- Maintain talent sourcing plans which includes university relationships, community organizations, and other key agencies and stakeholders.
- Coordinate/participate in events driven by GD corporate.
- Support the talent acquisition and talent development teams.
- Coordinate all local and out-of-state university/college recruiting trips.
- Recruit interns and college graduates for organization’s talent programs.
- Approximately 25% travel required, with an increase during the peak college recruiting cycle.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required and minimum of five to seven years related work experience. Equivalent work experience, or a combination of the two, may substitute for degree/experience required.
- Recruiting and/or substantive public presentation experience required.
- Previous experience in data analysis, data reporting, and OFCCP reporting process strongly preferred.
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and remain flexible in a fast-changing environment.
- Previous experience in a construction, manufacturing or shipbuilding work environment strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of HR concepts, practices, and procedures with high volume recruiting experience preferred.
- Demonstrated organizational and creative problem solving skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize changing demands.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications. Experience with ATS a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with public presentation experience. Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and all levels of employees and management.
- Familiarity with, or ability to gain proficiency in, the use of new technologies and/or media to augment recruiting and sourcing efforts.
- Commitment to the concepts, philosophy and practices of continuous improvement to improve quality, reduce cycle time, and minimize costs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The essential functions of this role are performed in an office setting. The role requires prolonged periods of working in a stationary position, operating a computer, computer programs, and standard office equipment necessary to perform the essential duties. The role requires perceiving information and communicating effectively with others in person, online, and on the phone.
PAY SCALE
$84,700 - $109,600
This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
